The Undying Revenants

Revenants hail from every human culture and originated from, or have survived, across many human time periods, which causes much variation between each revenant, though they have some superficial similarities. The Newdead are the most recently deceased, counted as anyone who has died and returned since The Great Dying. They often continue to use the names they used in life and still think of themselves as part of the cultures of the living.

The Longdead are those that have lived for at least a century, often several. They have ceased to resemble mortals in more than a superficial way, and the cultures from which they hail have drifted so far as to be almost as distant from them as those of the children of Eidolon. They are hinged to humanity and sanity only by their force of will and their burning desire to bring justice to all.

It is said that Kellach, the God of Justice, heard the cries of the slain begging for redress and decided to make them his champions. From their graves, eyes shining eerie yellow in the dark, these slain dressed their wounds and marched to face the ardents in battle. The slaughter was avenged across many provinces in a single evening, but justice could not prevail while humanity lay at the mercy of the Eidolon.
